You’ve tried A LOT… The rewards. The consequences. The parenting podcasts you listened to at 1.5 speed because who has time? And a few strategies you swore would be the one.
When your child is overwhelmed, “knowing better” doesn’t always mean they can do better. We look underneath the behavior, help them understand what is happening inside, and build tools they can actually use when things get hard.
Trusted by kids, teens and families across Long Island.

Let’s find what helps your child.
What Support At Compass Can Feel Like
-
Big feelings feel more manageable, your child feels more confident, and home has more room for connection, laughter, and relaxing again.
-
We look underneath the behavior, so your child can feel understood instead of always feeling like they are the one getting it wrong.
-
The first six weeks are intentionally structured to understand your child, connect the dots, and give your family a clear direction forward.
-
You won’t leave with another parenting project. Your child gets support that fits, while you feel more confident when things start going sideways at home.
You’re always bracing for the next thing.
○ You say “time to get your shoes on,” and 20 minutes later someone is crying, everyone is late, and you are wondering how something so small got this big.
○ The school number lights up your phone and your stomach drops because you are already thinking, “What happened this time?”
○ Your child holds it together all day, then walks through the front door and completely falls apart.
○ Your teen says “I’m fine,” disappears behind their bedroom door, and you are left wondering whether giving them space is what they need or the worst possible thing you could do.
○ Bedtime finally ends, the house gets quiet, and instead of relaxing you are replaying the moment you lost your patience, wondering if you helped, made it worse, or somehow missed what your child needed.
○ And there you are at 1:37 in the morning, Googling ADHD, anxiety, meltdowns, emotional regulation, and “is this normal?”
Let’s Find What Helps Your Child
Because the behavior is only the part you can see.
You’ve tried the Facebook mom tips, the calm down tools, talking it through, and just about every “this changed our lives!” strategy you could find.
But overwhelmed kids don’t always have the words for what is happening inside, so it can come out as yelling, shutting down, or reactions that seem way bigger than the moment.
We use play therapy, sand tray therapy, art, creative expression, and simple brain and nervous system education to understand what is underneath the reaction and help skills actually click.
We take time to understand your actual child, include you in the process, and build a plan around your family.
More confidence for your child. Less second guessing for you. More room to enjoy each other again.

FAQs
-
Play therapy gives kids and teens a way to express what they may not have words for yet. Through play, sand tray therapy, art, and creative expression, they can show us what is happening underneath worries, frustration, relationships, and big feelings. We use what we learn to help them understand what they feel and have more ways to handle it.
-
A lot. Parents are part of the process from the beginning, with parent sessions, regular guidance, and check ins so you understand what is happening and feel more confident helping when things get hard at home.
-
We are in network with Northwell Direct and out of network with other insurance plans. We verify benefits and submit claims for our clients, so you do not have to handle the billing process yourself. If you have out of network coverage, reimbursement is sent directly to you by your insurance plan.
